Ishmael Kwesi Otchere is a Microfinance Practitioner with strong credentials in rural banking and microfinance. For over 25 years, he has worked with rural banks, MFIs, and NGOs focusing on poverty reduction, particularly in rural and peri-urban areas. He has also facilitated many international training programs in microfinance risk management in group lending, corporate governance, etc. Ishmael was one of the International Consultants for the Community Banks and the Apex Community Bank of Sierra Leone as a trainer of the Community Banks and Technical Advisor to the Apex Bank.

Ishmael was the lead promoter of Microfin Plus Ghana (MFPG), an FNGO which facilitated the formation of village savings and loan associations (VSLAs) and credit groups (Credit & Savings with Education) and transformed to a rural bank- Microfin Rural Bank in 2013.

Ishmael is also the Managing Consultant of Microfin Consult. Ishmael is a Chartered Banker and holds MBA in Finance and a member of Institute of Directors (Ghana).
